Development on PlacesInBrooklyn.com to create Brooklyn's own social networking community with a "location oriented focus" continues, and the web application platform is nearly ready for customization and design. Soon, Brooklyn residents will have a site where they can create their own profile, meet and communicate with friends, and find new and interesting places to dine, drink, party, or do just about anything else they can think of. The new site will be built on one of the most advanced and flexible social networking web application frameworks available, and in addition to user profiles, business owners will be able to create pages for their "place in brooklyn," whether it's a cafe, bar, club, barber shop, or any other business. This way, users can keep in touch with all their favorite Brooklyn businesses and hangouts. They'll also have the ability to post comments about places they've been to let others know about their great (or not-so-great) service. The basic platform setup is nearly finished. Once the basic functionality for social networking and content management is complete, we'll move toward creating a unique design for the site. Our aim will be to ensure that PlacesInBrooklyn.com is easy to use and navigate, is clean in style and layout, and reflects the hip, rad, totally awesome sensibilities of Brooklyn's web users.
